There are two sets provided in this repository, that function differently, and most likely play differently.
Letters outside the grid may be used without modifiersĪlso, if you are like me and get a sore pinky with extended Ctrl'ing on a QWERTY keyboard, do yourself a favor, use CapsLock as Control! My AutoHotkey script can be found here: capslock-control.ahk What I did inside the game after setting my hotkeys, I changed the name to my nickname, is the 'number file' it will be there, in my case its called 'vitinchan keys. Letters in the grid are not used without modifiers. A couple of common rules make these hotkeys work well together. The default hotkeys for these did not come natural, thus these hotkeys exist. The grid does not apply to the rest of the hotkeys, such as select buildings and go to entities. villager build menu, building options, unit stances and formation. GAMEPLAY Ctrl (when right-clicking) :: target objects hidden behind buildings (or alternates) Ctrl + Alt (when right-clicking) :: move unit without targeting. Note that everybody can read your message, including the enemy :). This will pop-up a dialog bar in which you type your message. You can utilize the chat by pressing Enter. The new grid is great, but it does only apply to the commands of a selected entity. You can also chat to all from the normal chat window (which you open by pressing Enter) by adding a in front of your message. Select Local Files tab and click on Browse Local Files. 
The Definitive Edition changes the most of the hotkeys to a grid based system compared to its predecessors. Instructions Right-click on the game Age of Empires II: HD in your Steam Library and select Properties. I am changing the stable hot key too ass L is too much on the right side too. You will see some actions that can be performed (eg, move, guard, patrol). Open up the unit screen (select it) and hover over the buttons in the left bottom. The closest is M (for move), then left-click. to tab as it’s makes it easier to type while using the mouse. I dont think there is a way to move 100 with the keyboard. The only one I changed so far was the idle villager’s from.
If you are looking for the complete opposite, hard to learn but designed for hyper-efficiency, check out Nili's hotkeys. Have fun with the short keys They are essential for good playing. The main feature of these hotkeys are that they feel natural and are fast to learn! They extend the default (DE) hotkeys, but keep the changes small in comparison to some other hotkey sets. A set of modified hotkeys for AoE2 based on the default hotkeys from the Definitive Edition.
